What is a Parent Forum?
Composition of the consultation group
All parents are invited to put themselves forward for the consultation group. The opportunity will be given throughout the year during parent’s evenings. A representation from all year groups and houses will be encouraged.
The Role of the consultation group
To be a communication link between the school and parents
To ensure the school are provided with constructive and practical suggestions that will enhance the quality of care offered to all the children in the school
To seek parental views on particular issues
To assist in aspects of policy formulation where appropriate
To give staff a forum within which to explain school policies and procedures
Structure and organisation of the consultation group
Termly meetings (these may be called more regularly if necessary)
Items for the agenda to be submitted to committee members at least 1 week prior to the meeting
Feedback will be shared with relevant members of staff
Minutes will be made available to all those who attended the meeting
Protocol and expectations
Members of the group are not expected to use the meeting times to discuss personal issues or complaints. These need to be passed on using the usual house system/ passed on to a relevant member of the senior leadership team.
The group requires an objective and wider view to help the majority of the pupils in the school, not specific individuals.
Issues and items discussed need to be keep confidential
