Norton Hill School
Arts Trail

The Art Department is working with town traders in Midsomer Norton to create an Arts Trail around the town. A piece of art work made by a student at the school will be placed in the window of a shop or café for the public to view. Over thirty businesses are taking part, and there will be a few larger exhibitions of students’ work around the town as well, for example in the library.

Art teachers are selecting a range of work, from Year Seven to Ten, based on the quality of work, and the relevance to the shops and venues taking part. We intend to put food related art work in cafes and bakers, and animal related art work in pet shops, for example.

The Arts Trail is timed to coincide with other events that are being planned on Saturday June 19th 2010, by a variety of organisations to create a Midsomer Norton Summer Fayre day.

The work will be on display between Saturday 12th and Saturday 19th June. An Arts Trail map and guide will be produced giving details of where pictures can be seen, students involved, and a voting slip for people to vote for their favourite art work. The most popular art works will receive prizes.

Please see Mr Plant if you require any information, or for an Arts Trail Guide.

B&NES Athletic Championships 2010

Yet another fantastic afternoon over at
the University. Our athletes performed magnificently well and behaviour was impeccable as usual. The students were just brilliant in all respects! There were lots of top 3 finishes again and personal best times/distances, which given the very high standard of all the competitors involved, demonstrates a fantastic achievement. All those that finished in

the top 3 have now been selected for the Avon Championships in June.

The best performance of the day came from Kate Mitchell who won the Junior Girls Discuss with a throw of 16.75 meters and came 4th in Junior Girls shot. Well done to all the boys and girls that represented the school.
